I feel very honoured and privileged to be welcoming you to a new academic year as the Headteacher of Old Buckenham Primary School. Since graduating from Cambridge in 2003, my most recent position as Deputy Head in a primary school in Harrow has now led me to join the school.
Clearly we are all facing a time of great change and advice regarding COVID-19 and no doubt you are all full of uncertainties and anxieties about how the term will begin, particularly at the moment. I know that you will be wondering about what you will experience, and ultimately what you will learn from our school.
What I can promise you is an unswerving dedication from a talented group of staff and governors who believe passionately in giving the very best opportunities to all of the young people within our school.
Our vision centres around ‘inspiring learning for life’ Our belief is that learning must be meaningful and purposeful – children will never come back to Old Buck in 10 years time to talk about a great worksheet or test paper they did! However, they will leave feeling inspired by residential trips, outdoor learning, a curriculum that is relevant to them and they will have a passion for learning throughout their life. There is no “ceiling” on the achievements of children at Old Buckenham Primary School!
We want all our children to believe in themselves and believe they can make a difference to the world. We want them to take risks, make good mistakes so they can learn, be confident and have the skills to succeed not just in school, but in life.
You can expect our school to be a supportive place, one in which the door is always open to you all, allowing us all to work together to ensure that as the wonderful young people, brimming with potential, move on from Old Buckenham Primary school to a very bright and happy future.
I look forward to meeting you all. Should you wish to discuss any element of the school with me, I endeavour to be at the school playground gate before school. Alternatively you can send an email on email@example.com.
